The new council offices for Westmeath County in Mullingar, Ireland, comprise two four-story office buildings, with the atrium and main entrance accommodated in the angle between them.
The glass roof of the atrium is triangular in shape and is spanned by a series of laminated timber beams. These make the shape of a gentle wave. The roof glazing is arranged beneath these wooden supports. The vertical facade of the atrium takes the form of a circular cut-out, suspended from the roof structure and resting against the roof supports, arranged externally in front of the facade.
