The key infrastructure center of the natural sciences campus of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University defines the approach to the campus, and is thus an iconic trademark for the university campus at Riedberg. The building houses the library, auditoriums and the cafeteria, along with a double-level foyer.
The entire building is encased by a curtain facade in expanded metal. Anodized in a gold color (and, depending on the light conditions required, configured with mesh widths of different sizes), the casing achieves a homogeneous look for this central building. With its facade and the specially manufactured supporting profiles, along with the high-precision joints of the element panels, the building is an outward embodiment of the high quality of design detail.
