A new stopping point for underground and suburban railway trains has been built next to the Elbe bridges in Hamburg to connect the new “Elbbrücken” district to the local public transport system.
Two platforms, each almost 690 feet in length, were constructed for the suburban railway station in collaboration with SEH Engineering. Flooded with light, the station consists of precast platforms and a roof in the form of a steel and glass structure with exterior framework. Suspended from the criss-crossing steel primary girders are spokes and purlins which are covered with laminated safety glass. The bar structure consists of individually manufactured steel profiles. A specially developed sealing system has been installed to absorb the deformation that occurs. The company’s share of the works consisted of the steel bar structure along with the glazing.
